Experience movies you can’t find anywhere else
Although the Belcourt Theatre seems to be a staple in the Nashville community, a lot of people that I talk to who live in Nashville have never been. I just went for the first time last week to see the Academy Award nominated animated shorts. (Which were absolutely delightful!)
The Belcourt, located in the center of Hillsboro Village, is like stepping back in time, before movie theaters had 25 different movies showing and seated 500 people per theater. The attraction of the Belcourt is that they show movies that you can’t find in theaters: first-run films and repertory films. Another perk is that they have a concessions stand with a full bar.
Along with movies, they occasionally have live music and comedians.
The Belcourt also shows midnight movies every couple of weeks. I remember trying to go see Silence of the Lambs last year around this time, but I couldn’t find anyone brave enough to go with me.
Because of the spectacular location, it’s easy to grab dinner or drinks before or after going to the Belcourt. I recommend Jackson’s or Boscos. I made friends with the bartender at Boscos last week, and I’m a loyal customer, so I’ll be back.
The Belcourt has an interesting history, and if you don’t know much about it, I encourage you to visit their website. They also have a list of upcoming movies with a little about the plot of the movie. After my first visit, I’m hooked and will definitely be going back.
You can also follow the Belcourt on Twitter or Like them on Facebook for more information.
